Did my macbook pro just crash? Please help

I just started my macbook pro - it was working perfectly earlier today.

So I log in and my Dock (where dashboard, finder, etc - all the apps icons) are is different- it has reverted back to I think defaults!!

For example firefox is gone, things that i've removed from the dock are back...

Then my icons on the desktop are all messed up. They were no longer "snaped to grid" nor arranged by date created like I originally made.

What happened!!??

Sounds like you lost access to your home directory. Did you happen to change its name?

No, still the same name.

Last program I was using was the DVD player (stock).

My firefox bookmarks are still there. I read in the post that said that they changed the home name that they lost this.

Also, I did not modify any system info.

Man, every folder has its view options messed up

All those settings are stored in ~/Library.

Did you delete any preferences?

nope,

I was watching a DVD that I had made in to an .iso on my computer.

All day in the airport I was adding Numerous Bookmarks to the dvd.

So anyway, I was watching the dvd and I shut the lid.

the computer was placed screen down and I tried to open the latch, it started to boot up but then then the computer closed because it's dark and I didn' realize it was upside down. So then I tried to start up by opening it and I just got a blank screen. So I did a manual power down by holding the power button and started back up again.

i just opened my home folder then my library file then I opened preferences. I organized by date modified and it's odd because it shows my last 2 modifications but then the next one before that would be a 9:41 yesterday - which may have been close to when I stopped adding bookmarks to my dvd .iso file...

aaah, frustrating!

so i opened my DVD .iso file that I had been adding bookmarks to all day and those bookmarks are gone! I must have done something by adding so many book marks to that dvd .iso file.

I didn't give me the option to view from tpoint of last viewing nor from default book mark.

bummer.
