Hello,

I've seen 2x16GB DDR3L Crucial RAM kits for sale on Ebay an other sites. However, I wonder why I didn't find anyone who actually tested them on a Mac Mini 2011 or 2012, or at least tried on a 16GB + 8GB configuration. In the Mac world there is always someone who tests nearly impossible things, like upgrading Macbook Air RAM (there a video on YT) or even disabling the defective Radeon GPU from 2011 MBPs. So I've just opened this topic because I didn't find anything specific about dropping 32GB on a 2012 Mini. There must be someone who tried this.

In regard to this kind of experiment, I've already "hacked" (actually a software called Thaiphoon Burner did it to me) a 1333MHz RAM module to be recognized as a 1066MHz module on my MacMini 2010, since 2x8GB 1066MHz kits were pretty rare.

Just installed 2x8GB Kingston HyperX (CL9 latency rate) modules on my 2012 Mini. The performance gain is slightly perceptible when loading sites and opening apps. I decided for low latency, high performance RAM because of a review that said it gives better performance with integrated graphics. But I still wonder if a 16GB+2GB, 16GB+4GB, 16GB+8GB or a 2x16GB setup could work. There is only anecdotal evidence saying that Mac Mini logic board doesn't support over 16GB.
