I'm asking because I'm not the primary account holder, but I'm authorized on the account. Last year I waited at the apple store the morning of the 3GS launch. They were telling people that you needed to be the account holder to buy the 3GS. But they weren't ID-ing anyone. They didn't even ask my name.
