Did the Chrome Browser Ever Manage to Open Displaying One's Home Page?

Open Chrome>(single tab)> Get blank address field. Have to click on home page icon to load it. Did anyone ever reach a work-around for the obvious result that users want their home page displayed automatically in a single click? If Chrome wasn't so fast, I'd ditch it just based on this blatantly-frustrating flaw.
