I haven’t upgraded since getting iPhone X. Its a known issue that the AT&T chip in the iPhone X can’t handle low power LTE. This results in dropped calls and poor data speeds. My wife’s iPhone 8 Plus crushes the X in signal reception. Has anyone had any improvements with the last refresh cycle last year and is it possible to tell who is manufacturing the chips for the iPhone pro for the AT&T model. I’m upgrading regardless. I’m hoping it can’t get any worse.
 
There is no att chip. But, i agree reception on att specific phone sucks. The sim free phone is supposed to have the better cellular chip. But cant tell if it has 2 esims

Some iPhone X’s modems were made by Qualcomm, some were made by intel. One was inferior to the other causing the issues I mentioned in the post.. specifically poor performance in areas with low LTE signal... leading to dropped calls and slow data speeds. Google it. It’s the truth.

It’s not an AT&T “chip” but the phones made for the AT&T network do contain many chips... one of which is a modem that allows the phone to operate on the specific frequency each carrier uses.

AT&T and T-Mobile Xs were Intel, Verizon, Sprint, and SIM-free were Qualcomm. The Qualcomm models have better reception and re-attach to LTE faster. The Intel radios in the 7/7+, 8/8+, and X did not have CDMA, the Xr, Xs/Ms Max, and 11/11 Pro/11 Flomax do support CDMA.
Verizon will activate the Intel 8/8+/X as LTE-only but not the 7/7+. Go figure. Qualcomm models work on any carrier.
 
I was concerned with this too, coming from a iPhone 8 Plus that had great reception and fast LTE speeds.

I’ve had no issues at all with my iPhone 11 Pro Max. I live in a very rural area, and AT&T is my cellular service provider for my phones. I also use my iPhones data as my only option for my home internet.

I reliably consume tons of data and hotspot on my new iPhone 11 Pro Max. I’ve never experienced a dropped call either.

I am over the moon happy with my new iPhone Pro Max since receiving it on launch day! I’ve finally found a iPhone that I’m going to keep long term with zero doubt or buyer remorse.

Assuming you mean 65Mbps, you're clearly not in a weak area where you'd notice the difference. A Galaxy Note 9 or 10 might get 70Mbps, but who cares? You'll never notice the difference. The difference is when the Galaxy Note is barely hanging on to -121dBm of B12 pulling 3mbps and the iPhone Flomax has no service.
