I was looking on Verizon to see how much the iPhone 5S would be on Edge, as I had remembered it being around $20 something dollars, except I was surprised to see that the iPhone 5S costs $32 on Edge, but is only $99 on a 2 year contract???

Did Verizon just increase edge prices along with decreasing the 2 year price?

No increase. With EDGE the full retail price is simply split into 20-months worth of payments.

$32.49 x 20 payments = $649.80.

No. $650/20 payments is $32.50/month. You own iPhone outright on edge if you pay in full.

Subsidized iPhone pricing varies. That's what makes 2 year contracts tricky to calculate.

Sometimes carriers may decide to give u even more subsidy with a "sale" on the iPhone contract pricing of $99

Weird. Just went on Verizon webpage. It says $27.15 edge pricing for 5s per month.

Not sure about the details. That's like $543 full price for iPhone over 20 months or $651 for iPhone over 24 months.

Gotta love deceptive marketing to make it look for affordable.

Yes it did go up now you pay it off within 20 months , current edge contract are not affected.

Right now with the EDGE discount I pay 6.24$ for my 5S gold

25+ 6.24

now I think I would pay like 6$ extra for 32GB.

5S is now 31$ on EDGE 16gb

Using a 2yr contract option on Verizon you can get the 5s for 450 after paying the 340 etf after one month of service.

U also need to add $30 upgrade fee or $35 activation fee for new lines. So around $480-490 total fees plus monthly cost.

Assuming u just add a line for $9.99 on older plans. Comes out to about $500 plus taxes. Remember u will get charged taxes on ETF also. It's not $340. It will be around $380 in many states.

In California you will get charged full sales msrp priced even on $99. So $650 x 9.25%. That's $60 in sales taxes on a "$99" contract iPhone 5s.

So you are essentially getting around a $50-100 off msrp if you decide to game the system whenever they have 2 year contract iPhone 5s sales at $99 instead of $199.
