Apple likes hyperboles. Sometimes they're justified, sometimes they're exaggerated. What's your take on this September 2025 event?

We're well past "awe inspiring" with phone technologies, and air buds. Its not like we didn't know what was coming given the leaks. My opinion is that its just more of the same, minor updates to apple's product line. I'm not knocking the phone, air buds or watches, but the newer models are not awe inspiring.

iPhone Air looks cool. Not interested in all the trade-offs for that look though.
iPhone 17 Pro's - incremental.
iPhone 17 - Awesome features, has ProMotion and many similar features from the Pro's, the one to get for 99.999%.
AirPods - Cool? Happy that Live Translation is coming to the AirPod Pro 2's.
Apple Watches - Incremental, same chip from last year.

Well I think they were correct, if you drop the awe from awesome, you're left with some. Just some iPhones. So, yes it was "awe-dropping". ;)

I was slightly awe-dropped when I saw the Live Translation. Not so much when I saw the list of languages. And then not at all when I found out today it’s not coming to the EU.

I am still in an iDevice coma, doctors say it’s a miracle I survived.

I forgot to "attend". So I guess it was not exciting enough for me to watch, from a "what will they reveal" standpoint.

This is not 100% specific to the awe dropping event, but: Am I the only one who felt that certain new features were very misleadingly advertised as being specific to the new hardware being offered?

Sleep score. AirPods’ active language translation. Apple Watch hypertension.

Intentional vagueness, or did I just not pay close enough attention?

I still haven’t let Apple off the hook for not informing consumers that a new battery could refresh their lagging phone. Now, I am questioning their tactics about not being transparent enough that certain new features are going to be offered by updated operating systems and usable even on older hardware.

It was a bump. I liked the Apple Event. I was surprised how short and quick it went. Usually they're too long.

I don't get outraged at these things. I think we're at peak tech maturity for phones, earbuds, watches, etc. Wasn't expecting jaw dropping anything.

Apple does a good job with privacy, longevity/support of products - they have my $ for now.

We are keeping our 15 PMs for another year ... at least. We did spring for 2 AirPod Pro 3s... :)

They really needed to release that foldable phone this year. I’m seeing more and more people with the latest Samsung fold in the wild and Apple just appear like they are too far behind.
What annoys me is that people are just going to reward Apple for their laziness. Despite the lacklustre update it seems people (least on this forum) remain enthused about the 17 Pro Max series and will preorder manicly today (even those with 16 PM!) this only provides more incentive for Apple to take its customers for granted, play it safe with boring iterative updates and not actually innovate like they used to. It’s sad because I’m neck deep in the ecosystem , but the magic simply isn’t there anymore.

Sort of yes and no.

On the one hand, there was not a flashy, superficial feature that captured the eye. The new colors are not great.

On the other hand the new iPhones are awesome. I love the unibody structure of the iPhone, the faster CPU, not mentioned but they now have a much more secure memory structure, better battery life, better cameras, telephoto lenses, better radios and more and all in a tiny package that fits in my pocket. And the price didn’t change in spite of tariffs and inflation.

Kudos to the thousands of engineers who put in long hours making all this work as well as it does. Thank you.

I feel odd in saying that I get more excited with new Apple products that are NOT iPhone, iPad, or Mac. AirPods, Apple Watch & watch bands, Studio Display, iPhone Cases, and of course the OS updates.

iPhones and Macs have reached "iterative stage" in my opinion. They get better every year, but not earth-shatteringly so. I expect faster, cheaper, more storage, RAM, etc. – and that's pretty much all we've gotten for the last 10-15 years.

*and thinner!

There isn’t a lot Apple can do, though, is there? I always wonder what people who insist Apple should iNnOVeTe really expect. A round phone? Transparent MacBooks? A foldable and camera under the screen is about as much innovation as there is left. And the mythical all-glass Anniversary Edition of the iPhone. I’m not extremely excited by that.

I really hope voice interfaces are NOT the future, I’m irritated enough by people who play stuff with sound on speakers in public transport. Last thing I need is thirty people at once using voice to scroll Instagram.

Yeah, holding onto my 15 Pro Max - I have to agree with y'all. Nothing that screams at me - this is worth dropping $800 (after trade in)! Definitely hitting the age of diminishing returns and I'm ok with that.

I can get a lot of tech for $800...
