Hey guys, just looking to get a consensus of aluminum macbook owners to see who's in the majority on this site, 2.4 owners or 2.0? i've been noticing a lot more people with the 2.4 model judging by everyone's signatures. i went with the 2.0, just couldnt see the justification in the price for a 2.4, although the keyboard is cool.

Sorry to hijack your thread OP but do you play any games on it just wondering.

ChrisN

Hijack forgiven. Does the Sims 2 count? if it does then i must say, it runs way faster than on my old whitebook with similar specs, and the graphics cant even be compared

Is there a noticeable real world speed difference (not pretty graphs) that justifies the price of 2.4ghz?

I'm ready to buy but I'm in that zone where "it's only a few hundred more for the next level" and I've already jumped from the $1299 Macbook to the $1999 MBP. So now I'm trying to be more realistic about what I actually need.

2.4 but only because of the backlit keyboard! i cant see anything without it beign tunred off! black keys WTF??? not really usefull withoug backlit! and I was also used to the thinkpads thinklight :D

when i went to the apple store i had my mind set on getting the 2.0 but when i found out that i could use my lil bro's discount to get $100.00 i couldnt pass up the 2.4 :)

I went with 2.4 for the backlit keypad.

They saw us comin' a miiiile away with this backlit keyboard thing!

I too am guilty of spending the extra bones on the keyboard of the Macbook!

But in all honesty... my 12" Powerbook G4 (which I think had like 1.4 Ghz?) and its STILL lightning fast today!

i went with the 2.0

didn't think the .4 and backlight were enough to justify the price

dont forget the larger hard drive. i mean for some people its worth it, but if i had enough for the 2.4, i would just get a pro.

Went for the 2.4GHz processor and keyboard. Upgrade to 500GB HD and 4GB of RAM the same day.:D

2.4 cheaper than 2.0

Hey Guys,

I'm in the Republic of Ireland and here the 2.0 is a ridiculous €1199 and the 2.4 is €1499 but I bought my 2.4 in Belfast for the equivalent of €1180 and €10 for the bus!!! Would recommend it for anyone considering buying a Macbook in Ireland.:D

wow, its starting to look like a big 2.4 majority, i wonder if that for all macbook owners or just the ones on macrumors. if only there were a way to find out how many of each apple has sold...

I got the 2.0ghz macbook. I thought that it's fast enough for what I'll be using it for, and if I need something better later on then I can always sell this, save up a bit and get the macbook pro.

did you upgrade your ram to 4gb? it makes a LOT of difference, more difference than the .4 ghz processor speed increase

I took the 2.0 back for the 2.4

My girlfriend bought the 2.0, and I did too but then took it back for the 2.4. So, I have both to compare. The 2.4 is definitely a bit snappier, especially moving big files. The backlit keyboard is great too and the extra storage. The 2.4 is definitely more future proof. The 2.0 is a very decent machine too, but once I saw how good a computer this thing was I had to have the 2.4.

I had the guy bring out a 2.0, but asked him to grab a 2.4 instead. I must say, a backlit keyboard is FANTASTIC!
