Um.... WOW!! Excellent find...

The perspective is just terrifying in its certainties.....
#1 Net active country is....... BERMUDA ?!?!?!? Serious WOW!!

Very. But would have liked some info on the UK or something in there.

And Tonga is one of the fattest. Small islands are easy to cater for.

Interesting stuff. I would if in years to come we will look back on it as we do those old predictions of the future.

The statistic was vitally different

The #1 Ranked country in Broadband Internet Penetration is ... Bermuda.

By 2013 supercomputers will be more powerful than the human brain? I have my doubts about this one... there's so much we do not understand about the human brain, I wonder if it's even possible to build a computer that could perform at the same level. The human brain also forms new pathways and links through new experience... a computer is limited by its hardware.

Still, interesting stuff...

I think we have a mathematical benchmark for what the brain can do. Obviously we know the performance of computers too. When one matches the other we have a computer of equal processing power....course that doesn't mean it'll actually be intelligent, it just means if programmed with a task it can "think" as quickly as we can.

I guess it is % of population that is on a broadband connection.

Yes, that's what it is....but that number isn't too shocking. Bermuda has 66,000 people living on an island smaller than Manhattan, it isn't exactly difficult to get broadband lines out to every house when working with a small number of houses in a small area.

As much as I want to say the population figures are ratios and thus inaccurate when you compare countries, the earth is staying the same size while the population grows no matter if it's a ratio or not.

Scary, in a way.

Bermuda can chalk up another sweet amenity: Pina Coladas, tan women, cheap grass and broadband internet, baby!

There's the Blue Brain project, and they think they could simulate a brain using a supercomputer, down to the molecular level, in about a decade.

Plus, there's this other project, where they've recreated neural networks in hardware/silicon form. Basically, it's a chip that behaves like a neural network.

This is why I want to retire with a small yacht of some kind. The expanse is already destroying the area I live, new housing developments taking up every free space we have.

Damn city rassle frassle.

I think that's the human ego talking. ;)

That's like saying, "I can't believe the Earth isn't the centre of the universe."

In 30 years, you'll be laughing at yourself for ever saying that about the brain. ;)
