I only ask because the prices of the new XS Max are crazy expensive in my country, and almost all stores have them for the exact same price - except for one electronics chain-store, where the price difference is exactly the same between models, in euros its 0.732252, in USA dollars it's 0.862681 and in British pounds it's 0.655571.

The prices for the XS Max 64 gb in all but that one chain-store is 1,472.92 euros = 1,737.59 USD = 1,319.89 GBP. I live in Northern Europe and am using xe.com to do the currency conversions.

I find it baffling that all stores, except one with a laughable minute price difference, offer nothing to entice people to preorder.

Do or did the stores in your country offer any freebies with your preorder?

(there are no upgrade schemes or any of the sort in my country and my old phone is almost dead; but the prices on both the max and non-max are ludicrous)

If you're "lucky" enough to have delivery issues with your phone as I did when I got my X, you could call Apple up and ask for a free case. My guess is you won't find many freebies, as the stores can't keep the phones in stock yet. Once demand dies down, you'll start to see small discounts or cases included, etc.
