I placed my preorder with AT&T Premier yesterday at noon.
I just got two email notifications from my bank a few minutes ago, each showing an immediate deduction of $213.
The problem is that I only placed one order for one 16GB iPhone 4 on their site.
I'm on the phone with AT&T right now, they can't even verify the order number I received from their email, giving me two order numbers that I have no record of. Luckily, they are identical orders going to my place of residence, so it doesn't seem to be a breach of security yet. I've decided to cancel both orders and press my luck with the two reservations at the Apple store.
Of course, they don't know how to handle the cancellations, so they're going to have to call me back. Of course, I'm still out $426 on my checking account until this gets resolved.
Not a happy camper. I'm a forgiving person, but so far and after thinking long and hard about it, I've confirmed that AT&T hasn't done anything positive since 2007.
UPDATE: They are canceling both of the orders and I will be refund the money within 24-72 hours.
UPDATE UPDATE: They are having difficulty canceling the orders and will have to get back to me.
