Difference between iPad 1 and 2 BOX

So my family is getting my mom an iPad 2 for Christmas. My dad is picking it up at Walmart.

Is there something I can tell him to look for on the box to make sure it's an iPad 2?

He's not much of a gadget person but he's the one that's putting the most money into it.

I just want to make sure he gets the right one. Thanks

Ipad 1 the ox is a direct image and the 2 is a side view
 
I don't think that any retail stores would be carrying any iPad 1s anymore, so I doubt that there'd be really any risk at all in accidentally picking one up instead of a 2nd gen.

No major retail store would be selling iPad 1s. They stopped producing them in March.

Plus the back Serial number label will say iPad 2.
 
Not true Ive seen iPad 1's at my local walmart and target as recently last week. Given no best buy or apple store will have them but the cheaper retailers may.

Total mind-blow. I'm not saying that I don't believe you. I'm just really surprised by that.
 
Ya, boxes are different. One has the old background with shooting stars and stuff. Then the new iPad 2 has the water drops as it's background, which is presented on the box.
 
iPad 1 box has the iPad straight on shot covering almost full front cover

iPad 2 has iPad at an angled view

This is your BEST answer . So easy to tell them from this...you either see a lot of iPad or very little.
 
Never mind on my previous post. lol Noob alert.

I have an Ipad 2. Thought the whole time it was a 1 because it just said iPad on it and I thought it would of had a 2 on it.

I didnt really look into it because this was an early Christmas gift so I didnt go out on my own and actually purchase it.

Best Buy dont sell 1's anymore.

I wouldn't think best buy woulda had the iPad 1. I could maybe see some less tech focused store still having stock. But even then I wouldn't expect them too.
