I think people here have said that it wouldn't be a huge difference, for quite sometime actually.
 
It's more like 10%.

Trust me, I use my 8 Core to the full extent...so much that all the fans kick up everytime I am doing work and/or rendering.
 
At a minimum, it's going to be 7% faster just due to the fact that the clockspeed of the two models being compared is 3.0 vs. 3.2. I would hope that the bandwidth, faster memory, and SSE4 will make a larger divide over time when they've had a chance to optimize, especially for rendering.

Very true. I was just comparing the "top of the line" ones from both generations.

SSE4 isn't going to make a huge difference.

The upside of the new Macs are of course the newer and more energy efficient (and a bit faster FSB, Cache) CPU's, base 2GB RAM, and of course better video cards (8800GT is a sweet spot).

I hope people stop posting for a new Mac Pro for a while, I was tired of reading them, even though this site is about "Rumors"...
