I purchased the Smart Cover Navy Leather from MacMall which states
Apple iPad Smart Cover for new iPad (3rd generation) and iPad 2 - Leather - Black (MC947LL/A)

While the Apple store has MD303LL/A.

MacMall also has the MD303LL/A but description is for iPad 2.

Which exactly is the one for the new Ipad?

I know both fit, from what I have read it's just a slight color change?

Also, is MacMall legit site for Apple products?

Thanks!

I don't know for sure, but do recall people saying the updated navy was a much nicer color. I assume it's the older vs the newer dye version.

I can't say for sure, but I do know the magnets in the iPad 3rd gen are not in the same places they were in the iPad 3. So newer SKU could have more/repositioned magnets.

Macmall is an Apple Reseller.

Looking at other resellers site, the product that you purchased is a discontinued model. It should still work. Most likely Apple is refreshing the product. Nothing new... maybe the newer model will reflect that it works for the new iPad. The iPads with MC/.... and MD/..... Newer packaging to reflect the new models. Nothing new. A lot of companies do that, so that resellers can decipher which is which :)

BH photo is an Apple Authorized Reseller. Check their site and see how everything is listed.
