what is the difference between cydia and rock

Uhm...rock is just like cydia, but preference plays a roll. i think cydia is more stable :]

There is a major difference. Rock is a application installer (just like last user said), but it uses a much different approach than Cydia. Winterboard is for customizing the springboard (iPod dock, app icons, switch to unlock, ect). It allows you to add wallpaper to your main screen, and much more!

winterboard is a theme installer you can download
you download themes off cydia and install them using winterboard
