Hi,

Can anybody tell me the difference between the two 12W charger models:

MD836B/B
MD836B/A

Both look the same, both have the same Wattage, and both are the same price, but I understand one has been discontinued. Any help would be appreciated, as I want to upgrade my charger for my 6 Plus to one of the 12W ones, as the 5W charger is too slow.

I could be mistaken but I would have thought that would be pointless as the iPhone would still only draw 5 watts.

The iPhone 6 and 6 Plus have been designed to draw extra power from an iPad Charger. Which makes it bizarre that they were shipped with the standard 5W charger.

Apple probably felt the more compact 5W charger is a more suitable size to accompany a phone that might be brought everywhere.

The "B" denotes a newer revision of the original A part.

Probably only a minor difference, though, and won't affect how it functions.
