Wondering if anyone has seen any results of someone comparing back to back the two models. If it is has been speculated that the 7 core are binned versions of the normal M1, would it stand to reason that the 8 core gpu model would also have better CPU performance and run cooler?

No difference. There is no binning when it comes to the CPU. It seems like Apple wants all 8 cores of the CPU to function the same no matter what.

There has to be a difference, why would they offer this option otherwise?

The difference is the GPU, not the CPU.

It's like asking what the difference in RAM speed is between the 256GB and 512GB SSD options. I know the GPU and CPU are on the same chip, but think of them as totally different things. Option 1: 8xCPU, 7xGPU. Option 2: 8xCPU, 8xGPU.

Sorry I misread. I thought we was discussing a difference between the 2 gpus.
