I'm just about to go out and buy a firewire800 PCcard for my Powerbook. I keep seeing ones that don't explicitly say that they work with Macs. One of the ones I've seen will cost me £30 whereas one from Lacie will set me back nearly double that!

Even though the Lacie and the other one look 'identical' are there any differences between the two that makes one of them Mac compatible and the other not? I was hoping that as firewire was invented in part by Apple that any firewire card would work on a Mac?
