ok, a bit "out dated" topic here, but...

whats the difference between the two even if the processor speed is the same? i may be aquiring a g3 ibook 800mhz, while my friend has a g4 ibook 800mhz that i spent some time on (no he is not selling his).

just wondering, will i notice a lot of bog time while using simple small programs (word, ichat, itunes, safari, ocational ps)?

I think both have the same core, but G4 employs AltiVec so the MSS data buses are 128 bit, so the graphics run faster.
I guess there are some other improvements in FPU too.
So ps will show significant difference, other apps you mentioned I guess will run the same if you have same RAM.

Difference between G4 and G4e?

According to the articles mentioned above, the "G4e" that came out in January of 2001 could have been rightly called the G5 at that time because of advances.

My early Tbook came out in January 2001 -- (400mhz). Does that make it a G4 or a G4e?

Interesting stuff nonetheless.
