Hello everyone,

Im a bit frustrated, yes the new MBPs are awesome and I really love it that we have now a real configuration regarding CPU and GPU but….
There is not really enough information from Apple to make a decision. How do you choose which M1 Pro Chip do you need? The informations that Apple provides about the M1 Pro, how much faster it is, is probably about the 10 Core CPU and 16 Core GPU, but what about the 2 lower options? How are they compared to it, or even the 13” M1 MPB….

I chose the base 14 model, all I mostly do is browse the web, watch YouTube, check email, maybe some light gaming….and coming from a 2014 mbp I’m sure even the base version will be a lot better…it all depends on what you gonna use the laptop for and how long you’re gonna keep it for…

Yeah sure sure, but the 13” M1 was also a beast. Im interested how much difference there is.

My usecase is: Xcode, Final Cut Pro and some Picture editing. Coming from a 2015 Macbook Pro, everything will be better and faster…but how much is the question :D

The base 14” with M1 Pro 8-CPU is still a performance upgrade from the M1, the 8 cores are distributed differently, 6 performance and 2 power efficient whereas the M1 is 4 performance, 4 power efficient, plus you get 6 extra cores of GPU.

Regardless of this, I would personally opt for the 10 core CPU. More performance.
