I am the only user on my mac but now everything has gone back to the basic settings.
I can only find my other stuff if I go to Macintosh HD > Users and then it seems all my things are in a different user. There is 3 icons there - a new one, the original one with the Home icon and a folder saying Shared.

I'm logged in as the Admin but can't use things like firefox, itunes etc

If I go to System Preferences then Users it only shows me and no other accounts, but everything for that is empty

This all happened by me changing the name on a finder window.
All I did was Ctrl click the one with the home icon and went to rename.

Is there anyway to set everything as it was before?
So when I turn my mac on my desktop was how it was, with all my programs, documents, pictures etc all there and to get rid of this new account

thanks

You've changed the name of your home folder. Change it back to what it was and you'll be back to where you were.

I would but it still looks how it was

on the left side in finder is the old name
in the Users folder its the old name, my new one has the different name

and I can't change the new one to the old name as its already taken

Edit:
I changed them both, then restarted, and it seems back to normal again.
thanks for the help
only thing is in the top right corner of the screen is my name, whern it wasn't there before

I know this thread is from ages ago and you might have it sorted by now, but it sounds like you have Fast User Switching enabled. You can toggle this in the Login Options of the Accounts pane in System Preferences. :)
