Hey everyone,

i have an AirTag and my roommate also. Of course, we both have our own apple IDs and we don’t use family sharing. sometimes when we go somewhere together I get a notification that an unwanted AirTag might be following me.
many other people should have the same problem. is There any solution to that problem?

thank you!

Thanks for your answer!
But this would mean that I won’t receive any notifications anymore? Even when a stranger actually places an Airtag in my pocket?

But I thought we were not supposed to get a notification of an unknown airtag is following us if its owner was near it?
Imagine traveling by train with a bunch of people and all their iPhone getting a notification.

Coming from Apple website:
"AirTag is designed to discourage unwanted tracking. If someone else’s AirTag finds its way into your stuff, your iPhone will notice it’s traveling with you and send you an alert. After a while, if you still haven’t found it, the AirTag will start playing a sound to let you know it’s there.

Of course, if you happen to be with a friend who has an AirTag, or on a train with a whole bunch of people with AirTag, don’t worry. These alerts are triggered only when an AirTag is separated from its owner."

Maybe your friend disables his phone's bluetooth?

Usually it’s not the case that Bluetooth is disabled… but yeah it’s weird

They (obviously) have some additional work to do with the algorithm's they're using to protect everyone's privacy while maximizing functionality. People should know by now that software is always a work in progress. :)

But we shouldn’t be the beta tester. Especially since Airtag are on the market for quite a long time now

6 months (today) - not that long.

You need to lower your expectations.
Do you remember the times when you couldn’t get updates like for the Gameboy, computer games and stuff? None of these had major bugs…

We have the same issue here. My wife and I ride in the car together on the weekends going places and by Sunday I will get an alert that I am being followed. It goes away during the week as we each go different directions for work. If someone else follows me with a tag I won't know it versus the one my wife has.
