different Aluminium Cinema Display Versions

Hi.

Unfortunately my Aluminium Cinema Display HD 23" went dead and I need a new one. I really don't want those new Thunderbolt-Displays (because they are lossy and don't fit to my old MacBook). So I considered buying a used 23" Cinema Display again because I really liked it. However, according to MacTracker there are two versions around. The first one with lower contrast and less brightness was intruduced 2004. Apple silently updated the 23" variant in 2006 und bumped contrast and brightness. How can I differentiate between both versions?
