Please explain how I can look up something like 'palm nailer' and other tools on my ios browser (Safari) on Tuesday. And then on Wednesday, I open a completely different browser (Edge) on my Macbook Pro and there's an ad for a pneumatic nailer.

How does this tracking do this and how can I prevent it?

I try to use the Firefox browser for ios as much as I can but Safari being the default, I will sometimes have to use it.

Yeah it's weird and kinda creepy sometimes for sure! On Safari you can open a private window by tapping on the multi-window icon and selecting Private.

that available on ios safari?
The private browsing feature of iOS Safari is the incognito mode itself. It doesn't store any history, cookies, form data, and also prevents websites from using cookies stored on your computer to track your visits.

Though not completely private it is way better than the normal mode. To invoke the private mode in Safari, tap on pages icon (consisting of two squares) and tap on Private and then on + to open a private tab.

Semi-wild guess because I don't know for sure... Probably the ad network tracks you by IP.
