Different folders - quick access?

Just got a Mac after always being a Windows user.

So, in Win, I often have many folders open and I can quickly open files from different ones by clicking on the folder in the bottom toolbar of the Windows desktop. With MAc, I seem to keep having to go to the Finder. I'm sure I'm missing something obvious.

Any suggestions?

I would add a stack to your home folder in the Dock & perhaps put aliases (shortcuts) to the folders you want in there ... easy!

PS set the stack to List rather than grid, so you can browse through it easily

I get what you are saying, but that is permanent.

What mean is that say morning I am working on some accounts and those folders are open at the bottom of the Windows screen in Win xp, and later in the afternoon, I work on some other folders. Then, I can close the morning folders, open the new folders, and they will be there at the bottom of the screen for quick access to open files from.

Dunno if I have explained myself correctly?

You mean you want to have multiple Finder windows opened on different folders and just minimise them down to the dock?

As you can do this in a few ways, for example:

- Finder > New Finder Window
- command + N (with Finder selected)
- Hold down command then double click on a folder to open it in a new window

You can minimise the Windows to the dock individually.
