Hello all, wonder if anyone can help. Been skulking around for a while and got some really useful tips from here but now I have a problem of my own, I've had a look through the search options for an answer but no joy.

I’m running an iPhone 3G on iOS 4.02 in an Otterbox Defender case, bought in the UK and been running there for a couple of years without any major problems.
I’m currently in the South Atlantic with work on the Falkland Islands and I’ve been trying to use some of the GPS kit on the phone without any success. I keep getting an “unable to determine location” error message. Apps I’m using are the standard mapping utility, Beacon and a few astronomy apps. Normally on O2 in the UK, the phone is running off the local Cable and Wireless network which does run iPhones sold locally. I’ve tried getting a position lock with wi-fi on (both in and out of wireless networks) and off, data roaming on and off and pretty much every setting combination I can think of.

Never had a problem getting a GPS lock with the case before so I’m dubious that it would start messing things up now but I was wondering if there was some sort of location specific issue I don’t know about.

Many thanks, any help gratefully received.
