Different kind of reception issue

My new iPhone 4 is having some serious reception issues. I've owned all previous iPhones so I know what kind of reception they get in my area. I have no service at my house but when I leave and go to an area that I know has service my phone continues to show no service until I reset it. It also sometimes will show service but not load webpages or make phone calls. The only way to get it to start working is to either reset the phone or reset the network settings. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix this?
