different methods to create sound effects

Hey Guys,

I usually use a sound bank to mix sound effects with movies. Is there an official program or way to create your own sound effects? What methods do you guys use? Wish I can hear a few and see how they work!

Innovation usually.

Check some books on foley creation, then there's the odd synth which is good for creation. But basically just think of something that sounds similar and go for it.
