Different SMS and volume problem on 1.1.3!!!!

I'm getting the exact opposite of other people's ringtone problems. my custom ringtones can be played but ll my default tones are silent, even when I'm selecting them under settings--->sounds

Also, my SMS app jis just empty...all my conversations are gone,and I cannot send or receive SMSs. I have another SMS app call SMSd that can send just fine...i tried uninstalling but, but with no luck!

Any ideas????
