This question is about eliminating something from Mail that is not made an option through preferences so if you are not prepared to address that I just wanted you to be forewarned. When the category attachments is listed it shows the number and the word items after. I hate this items being listed and it serves absolutely zero purpose other than to take up space. We obviously know an item is attached. I have dragged it to the edge so that just the edge is showing, but when I have a double digit for the number, i.e., 12 attachments, it throws off the whole clean look and makes the single digit look something like 4 "ite" (items if you were confused what ite meant).

Does anyone, likely someone proficient in programming, know how to get into the system and eliminate this word? Is this just way too much of a risk to do just for the word items? I would love to find a way to make this happen, thanks.
