I installed WinXP Pro on my newish Macbook Pro. While it seems to run pretty decently, fairly regularly when I am shutting down the computer or restarting it, it tends to hand on that blue Windows Shutting down screen. Sometimes as a precursor there will be some applications that are forced to quit that I was unaware were running but not always. While I know this isn't impeding my use of the machine it is a annoying and I would like to put an end to it.

Perhaps attempt to re-install the offending applications? My PC at work often whines about Adobe Acrobat Reader not shutting down properly when I restart or shut down, so a re-install (via the entry in Add/Remove Programs) often cleans it up (at least for a time).
