Hello All,

I want to add my mac mini 2012 to a Naim Unitilite as source. My question is:

Should I add the mini from the digital out using optical cable to the Naim Amp or should I get an asynchronous USB DAC and connected that before the amp?

Would the digital out be using the computers DAC or would it stay digital till it can use the DAC in the Naim amp?

I'm a bit confused, newbie here thanks :)

DAC stands for Digital to Analogue Converter, if you're leaving the Mac digital then you haven't hit a DAC yet, the conversion happens in which ever machine makes the ones and zeros an analogue audio signal.

You can go straight to the amp from your mac basically.
