Digital Pass Through--Camcorder

I have a Sony TRV480 camcorder and I trying to convert VHS tapes into iMovie 5.

I know I can copy the old tapes to digital tape in the camcorder, but can I bypass this step and record directly into iMovie? Sony is no help.

Is there a site/source that gives me step-by-step instructions to this?

Well, it appears that your TVR480 does have a DV/Firewire interface, so you should be able to use it as a digital passthrough source.
