I want to replace two old Tannoy analog speakers for a set of digital speakers to take advantage of the optical out of my Macbook Pro and FCP.
I´ve seen the comments on Edirol MA-15D and Behringer MS-40. Any advise on these systems or another I´ve not found? Thanks

You will not be "taking advantage of the Mac's optical output". Using it yes, but not getting better sound.

What happens is that the seakers have to do the same digital to analog conversion is is done inside the Mac before the sound can be amplified.

If you want the best sound for your money spend the budget on good speakers and not on a digital interface.

That said there are good reasons for using an optical cable. If the cable run is very long or if you are in an electrically noisy environment.
