Dim 27"iMac / no light?

Over the last 3 weeks my iMac has become what can only be described as faulty. When it boots up sometimes it's normal and other times it appears very dull (as if the backlight has not come on). I'll switch it off and on again and it'll be fine. I'm running lion and it's a 27" iMac about 2 - 3 months old (the newer version with the thunderbolt ports)

Anyone else getting this issue?
