Direct HD time capsule backup.

I know you can open up time capsule and connect the HD directly to your Mac to partition the HD for NAS.

Is there any way to quickly backup time machine while the HD is connected via the SATA-USB mount?
I know time machine uses sparsebundle on TC but normal files on a normal external hard drive.
