Directly post unbox - SSD / Memory upgrade

Just a quick question Forum:

If I unbox my Macbook Pro i7 and upgrade my ram and the SSD without turning on the computer for the first time, will that adversely affect anything? Should I boot and then upgrade those parts?

No, but it would be unwise to do so as you should make sure that the computer isn't DOA first.

Shouldn't hurt anything, you just need to put the OS on the SSD. Do you plan on inserting the factory disks and installing? You just have to plan out the installation process.

Auz - I thought to boot from install disk, then moving stuff over from external HD. I'm a first time convert, no previous Mac backup for me.
