I'm having a car problem arising from the way my iPhone (iOS 3 or 4, now 4), my car's bluetooth ('09 GTI), and my aftermarket iPod adapter (GROM-I2-VAG-T) are interacting.
The problem is that the iPod adapter is sending a "play/pause" signal whenever the radio enters or leaves "external CD" mode. This is normally not an issue, but when I make or receive a call while music is playing (through the dock connector into the iPod interface), the iPhone suspends playback, then bluetooth activates, and the stereo leaves "external CD" mode, causing the iPod adapter to send a "play/pause" signal to my iPhone, which has already stopped. So the music starts again, and I hear my call and the music over bluetooth. To make the music stop I have to go through several taps through the interface, which is not safe at speed.

Seems to me if I can get the adapter to stop sending play/pause signals altogether, that would solve the problem, and I'm asking the supplier about that option. But another solution could be to somehow configure the iPhone so that it refuses to pipe anything but telephone calls through Bluetooth, i.e., no music. I don't think this is possible, but I wanted to ask. Any suggestions?
