Hi guys!

I have an iPhone 3G that I'll be giving to someone. It's unlocked, jailbroken, and all ready to go. However, they are looking to use T-Mobile.

With T-Mobile, they want to know if they can disable all data and use Internet surfing just by Wifi. Additionally, they want to confirm that they can still send and receive picture messages as well.

Currently, the phone is running 4.0.1. I know to disable the data, I would have to go to Settings > General > Network > Cellular Data is switched to off. In this way, I would have him just use data from having Wifi be turned on.

However, if data is disabled, doesn't that mean you cannot receive MMS?

I know this is an old thread but I post this in case it helps someone else.

Most AT&T phones converted to work on T-Mobile work just fine on wifi with no data plan. Many of the independent t-mobile shops will unlock the AT&T phone for you (for a small fee of course), however, MMS does not work for most of these phones (at least most T-Mobile dealers will not guarantee it to work) even if you have a T-Mobile data plan.

Cheers,

Im on 4.2.1. Sending AND receiving is perfect!!

Do you mind elaborating on how you were able to pull that off? The only way I was able to disable my Edge also ended up killing my mms. I'd love to hear how you did it so i can copy ya...
