i have got the common problem on my mac book where the little red light for the optical output is constantly on.

i have had a search on google and everyone has suggested cotton buds, tooth picks etc etc to 'unstick' the micro switch. anyway i could not get any of this to work.

is there a way to disable the driver or something along them lines so i can have my speakers back. something along the lines of device manager for windows?

thanks in advance

Do you have headphones with a 3.5mm connector (or any other device with a TRS connector)?
If so, why not plug and unplug them repeatedly, as that works in many cases.
