Can I disable the default Mac DVD Player software from opening up when I insert a DVD disc into the removable drive on Mountain Lion 10.8.3?

I have tried using third party software like RestoreMeNot, TinkerTool and Application State Cleaner, but I find that these programs do not address this simple objective.

Thanks for any tips.

That works, but the "ignore" option also prevents the dvd or cd title from appearing on the computer desktop, which I do want.

The only other option would be to run a script to disable the Mac dvd player, yet display the dvd title on the desktop.

Are there ready-made scripts for this kind of thing online?

Seems strange though, but I do not have an ODD anymore to test it.

When I used optical media and had everything set to ignore, it was still shown on the Desktop or in Finder's Sidebar when the appropriate Finder settings were made in Finder > Preferences > General / Sidebar.

I double checked all my settings and its working now.
During one instance it didn't work while correctly set, which confused me.
But now it seems to be okay.
