Is it possible to disable accents for non-english letters?

I keep holding e down accidentally and getting stupid french letters.

Why do you keep holding down e?
If you hold down a or o ur u, you will get stupid German letters... :D
Just don't swipe up and your "e" will still remain an "e"?

Why do you keep holding down e?

Say for example, I am walking quickly and trying to spell a difficult word. I will hold my finger over a key and move it to ensure I get the correct letter. If I hold down on a, e or u I get stupid accent which are never used in english language.

Answers please

Have you ever noticed that the first answer always involves the useless response "well why are you doing that?"

Don't worry about why someone is trying to do something, don't post an "answer" just telling someone they shouldn't be doing that.

It's a real problem for which people are looking for answers.

When you text, you often go to the wrong letter but can then slide to the correct one.

Not so if you land on a special character, as you are stuck with choices you don't want.

Does anyone know how to turn off special characters or is it not possible?
