Hi,

I'm having some problems with a USB Bluetooth dongle on one of my computers, so I'd like to test it with my MBP to see whether the problem is with the computer or the dongle. However, I can't figure out how to disable my MBP's internal Bluetooth.

In Sys Prefs > Bluetooth, I've clicked "Turn Bluetooth Off" and that works, but then when I plug in the USB device it doesn't recognise it. Therefore it appears that the "turn off" option is system-wide, rather than just for the internal transceiver. So, how can I disable only the internal Bluetooth?

I'm running the latest version of Tiger.

Thanks :)

What make is the USB dongle? Compatible with Tiger I assume?

Did you install any drivers for it and has it created its own Sys Pref pane?

I don't know what make it "actually" is; it's been rebranded by DSE (a chain of stores here in Australasia). Model XH8883, for what it's worth.

The box states OS 10.2.8 and higher, and it uses OS X's built-in drivers and does not have its own pref pane.
