Dear mac buddies,

I notice every time i plug in a removable USB hard drive, spotlight will start to index files within the drive and result in my drive to take time to be recognized and become usable.

Is there any option within the snowleopard that would allow me to disable certain removable drive?

Thanks,

dara kok

I have the same problem. You can put any drive in the do not index list in spotlight prefs, but once the dirve is unmounted and mounted again it is not in the list anymore.
I opened this thread yesterday.

Thanks for ur comment.

I think i've found the solution based on what you told me. i've added a drive to the exception list in the spotlight preference and after a disconnect and reconnect, it's still there.

So thank you. I think i may have some idea about ur problem. have u updated ur OS to the lastest update yet? I used to be in the middle of no where, but once i've applied all the available system related updated. my problem is solved. You should check and try that.
