I have a CD stuck in my Superdrive and have tried everything to get it out, I think its a hardware failure. It tries to read the disk 4 or 5 times, then tries to eject but gets so far then sucks it back in. Until I have time to look at this properly, is there a way to disable the Superdrive so it doesn't keep trying to read the disk and eject it, its driving me insane!

Restart with the mouse button held down (as soon as it reboots), this will force the disc to eject.

Edit: After reading the post again, not sure if that will work seeing as you can only eject it partially.

Tried that, plus a bunch of other force ejects. Its not that it doesn't want to come out, it gets so far then gets sucked back in...

Basically the CD won't read, then ejects but only gets so far then gets pulled back in. I really want to just unplug the drive but can't go taking the whole glass out etc.... Wondered if I could turn the drive off from within OSX?
