Disable Text Selection When Right Clicking

Is there a way to turn off the selection of text under the mouse pointer when right clicking over text. I'm currently using Snow Leopard.

I tried checking in System preferences and didn't see anything that would help me.

I withdraw my question. The behavior seems to be application specific.
