Is there a way to stop text from showing up on my screen when I receive one.? I don't like the idea of other people reading my text if my phone is sitting out. I'd rather it just say something like "New Text" rather than showing the whole text.

You can do this by activating the unlock code in settings. If you set the phone to require the code after say 4 hours you'd never really notice it was there but you'd have the option of having just "New Message" and the sender's name popping up.

with 3.0, you dont have to have passcode lock enabled
you can turn preview off under the messages settings

however it wont hide everything
itll say "senders name" with "text message" underneath
so people could still see who the message is from
