I was wondering if it is possible to disable the "ignore ownership on this volume" checkbox for external drives? Or at least prevent a standard user from enabling it? I have one folder on my external drive that I was to restrict to my user only, and I have set up the permissions correctly. However, the standard user account on my machine has the ability to enable the "ignore ownership on this volume" option which defeats the purpose of setting up permissions. Does anybody know if there is a way to prevent this?

Hmm, that's strange. You don't need to authenticate to engage "ignore ownership on this volume" but you do need to authenticate to disengage it

I guess a temporary fix is an encrypted DMG.

We should submit a bug report to Apple.
