Hey guys,
I am trying to get my father's MacBook Air set up. He didn't like using OSX because he has been using Windows for the last 20 years and was having trouble learning a new OS. Therefore, we have set up his Air to boot into Windows 7 and it is running like a charm on his MacBook Air, but he tends to hit the trackpad while typing and it makes the cursor move around. I have tried and tried to find a way to disable the trackpad while typing or disabling the trackpad while an external mouse is plugged in, but am having difficulty finding a solution that works.
I tried Trackpad++ and it helped by using the disable trackpad while typing function, but the site is never working and the application requires update weekly or it will disable. I can donate and receive a serial number to take care of this, but I have never had the website work over the last month so I have never been able to do this. I also fear doing this only to have the application struggle to register since the website never works. I even had to download the application and driver from a 3rd party site to even download it originally.
I have also tried using MagicTrackpad, but it doesn't seem to work at all. It doesn't look like it's been updated since 2010. None of the functions seem to work. Telling it to disable does nothing and using the option to autodisable when mouse is plugged in does nothing, either.
Does any one have any other suggestions as to how I can fix this issue for my father? I don't want to simply disable the trackpad in case his Windows decides to go crazy one day and doesn't recognize his mouse. If the trackpad is disabled in that case, he'd be royally screwed. Any assistance in this matter would be appreciated.
