Disable Typing Notifications in Messages

In Messages.app (under Mavericks), is there a way to prevent the other end of the conversation from seeing the typing notification bubble that indicates that I am typing?

On iDevices, I use TypingPrivacy to accomplish this. But, I have not been able to find a Mac app counterpart.

Can anyone help?
